Novel environmentally friendly advertising display uses low power electrostatics and recyclable ink
The Tony Davies High Voltage Laboratory at the University of Southampton has developed a novel electrostatic technique for the SPABRINK Eu project partnership. The project uses dielectrophoretic forces produced at the surface of a polymer foil to pin coloured ink powder particles in position to form an image.

In late 2014, the Tony Davies High Voltage Laboratory (TDHVL) was granted £40,000 by the UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) to conduct cutting-edge research on development of a modelling tool for performance optimization in pulsed plasma thrusters (Ref. Tony Davies High Voltage Laboratory partners with Nokia
The Tony Davies High Voltage Laboratory (TDHVL) at the University of Southampton in the UK has partnered with Nokia to investigate how natural power resources could be used to a charge a Nokia Lumia with an energy simulation similar to that of a bolt of lightning. Nokia has said it is very excited to have partnered for the first time with the TDHVL on this project and believes this could be the start of an on-going relationship.

PRiME: Power-efficient, Reliable, Many-core Embedded systems, brings together four world-leading research groups from the Universities of Southampton, Imperial College, Manchester and Newcastle. Centrica Plc. invited the Tony Davies High Voltage Laboratory (TDHVL) to tender for a series of tests on a 27m section of 132kV offshore wind farm export cable and subsequently awarded the laboratory with its largest ever contract for commercial testing. Work has commenced on the three month long test programme and on the 7th December the supplied cable section was energized with a 1000 Amps per phase for the first time.
